Guest Instructor - Stephanie Hahn
Teaching Trauma-Informed Yoga Nidra
This session will begin with a short presentation about the science and art of Yoga Nidra, and a summary of how it can help individuals who have experienced trauma. Then, Stephanie will lead a Yoga Nidra session that incorporates trauma-sensitive content and language, followed by time for Q&A.
Stephanie is a yoga and meditation teacher, writer and artist who started out on quite a conventional path, earning an MBA and then working in marketing for large companies. After having kids, she underwent a massive shift in priorities and became a self-employed consultant working with not-for-profits so that she could spend more time with her family and work for causes she cared deeply about. When her children were young, Stephanie experienced a long period of intense back pain, and it was through that "gift" of back pain that she learned to slow down, listen to her body, and felt the calling to become a yoga teacher. Her kids are grown now, and her back pain is a distant memory. Currently, her favourite things to practice and share with others are mindful art and Yoga Nidra, to help others decrease stress and increase joy in their lives.
