Being Trauma Informed
Being Trauma-informed
What does it mean to be trauma informed? Read pages 156-157 of Carello et al (2014) entitled “The Trauma Informed Perspective” as a short introduction to the purpose of this course in your context. As you read think about the following terms:
• Trauma
• Trauma-informed
• Re-traumatization
• Secondary traumatization
Let’s come to a group understanding of these terms on this Padlet link.
Let’s focus particularly on this word “secondary traumatization” –
- How can this affect you in your role as a teacher?
- Have you experienced secondary traumatization?
