Integration

How are you?
I am feeling...
I felt ...
I feel ...

Clarify
I feel good. What does that mean?
I feel bubbling and tingling sensations. Where do you feel bubbling and tingling?
In my stomach and legs. Does it radiate anywhere or is local to those spaces?
It moves up and down and around. Is there anything else you want me to know about feeling good?

Notice when a student/client is telling a story about how they feel. With respect, bring it back around to where that story is living in the body. What energy is being activated by that story. Try using affirmative language, "I hear the story you are telling me." "What does it feel like when you tell that story?" "Where do you feel that in your body - or do you feel that in your body?"

Integrating experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly can start with authentic social interactions. As a facilitator we can help folx feel seen and heard with our language and our energy. Remember to give yourself time to take a deep breath. Time to ponder a response. Time to formulate a question that reflects back the speaker in an authentic and where possible positive (not glib) way. We cannot make every situation positive, nor should we. A nice phrase is, "I am sorry to hear that you are experiencing this." "Is there anything else that you would like me to know?" Be curious, kind and spacious. We do not have to have the answers to be of support and part of the co-regulation of folx who have high ACE's or a recent or current trauma.
