Samāsa Chair Yoga Certification Course



This program is designed for those who wish to teach accessible chair yoga . Samāsa Chair Yoga makes yoga accessible for elders, those with limited mobility, chronic illness, pre/post surgery, those in wheelchairs, as classroom breaks for children and teens, preventative community health and wellness offerings, at health fairs, at companies, corporations and nonprofits, and for all ages and abilities.

After this course, you can start Samāsa Chair Yoga programs and classes at hospitals, assisted living homes, support groups, yoga studios, expos, non-profits, medical offices, community centres and companies.

This program will enable you to teach yoga postures using chairs (standing and seated) for mixed level classes and private sessions.

This course is useful for yoga teachers, OT's, nurses, PT's, MD's, school teachers, caregivers, social workers and for those who are interested in practicing Chair Yoga at home or in a professional setting. Online teaching principles are now included in this program.


Included in this Course:


  • 40 hours of lectures, videos (practice and teaching) with resources for each session.
  • Live online group sessions or self-paced, start and end at your own convenience options.
  • Live online video classes with Q & A (optional) with unlimited access after (recorded).
  • Practice and learn to teach Samāsa Chair Yoga: seated and standing poses (gentle, moderate and challenging), guided progressive relaxation, pranayama (breathing exercises), healing affirmations. guided imagery for healing and meditation techniques (stress management tools) with printable scripts for your convenience.
  • Videos and PDFs on the anatomy, benefits and contraindications of yoga poses
  • Special population specialization.
  • Centring, nād yoga (mantra, seed sounds, music), mandalas and tantra for chair yoga.
  • Office Yoga: teaching small, medium and large companies/corporations
  • Marketing and starting up new classes
  • Experience Teaching and teaching evaluations/feedback from peers and lead instructor
  • Short Chair Yoga breaks at home or work

So excited to be sharing Samāsa Chair yoga with you. In the fitness industry for over 35 years now and counting. One of my long time personal goals is to make fitness and specifically yoga available to everyone. With a background in the fitness industry, aquafitness, yoga and training yoga teachers since 1997.

Our philosophy is that almost all yoga can be taught from a chair. We teach a methodology that you will be able to take away and apply to all that you teach.

Many call me a yoga teacher's yoga teacher. We aim to share the best that is available from our tradition, with an academic leaning and sound foundation in science tempered with a wide understanding of the socio-cultural implications of understanding the more subtle aspects of yoga.

How does lifetime access sound? After enrolling, you have unlimited access to this course for as long as you like - across any and all devices you own.

You can ask questions practice, teach, and get support from me during the program and the community, other instructors in training. We are here to support you!


Will more topics be added?

This Chair Yoga teacher training is comprehensive. If there is a topic that you would like to know more about that is not listed in our course outline, let me know in your application letter and we can make every effort to cover that topic as well. Let's connect!

We are glad that you are here. Continuing education is an important part of professionalism as a yoga teacher and in many other professions. This course is designed to be a refresher in yoga anatomy, physiology and bio-mechanics, we use somatic and embodiment principles and practices to inform movement in, around, under and over chairs.
